Claiming to capture the last moments of Hamas commander Yahya Sinwar, Israeli soldiers released drone footage. The image purports to depict Sinwar “wounded, sitting on a sofa” in a demolished Gaza apartment where the walls have been destroyed by shelling.
Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, can be seen in the footage throwing a stick over his head in the direction of the drone that is approaching, although it looks like he has serious injuries on his right arm.
According to preliminary DNA tests, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz verified that Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas and the person who gave the order for the October 7 attack on Israel, was “eliminated.”
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari claimed that Sinwar was only recognized as a fighter when the video was shot. Hagari claimed that after that, the military fired one more shell at the structure, causing it to collapse and killing him. He said that grenades and a bulletproof vest were discovered with Sinwar.
How Israel ‘Eliminated’ Sinwar?
Hagari stated that when gunshots wounded his hand, Sinwar retreated into one of the buildings by himself. He stated, “You can see here in the footage I’m presenting, our forces used a drone to scan the area.”
Hangari claimed, “Sinwar, who was shot in the hand, can be seen here with his face covered, in his final moments, throwing a wooden plank at the drone.” The Hamas leader attempted to flee, but was killed by Israeli forces.
Hamas has been silent over Sinwar’s death.
What Netanyahu Said on Sinwar’s Killing?
The assassination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marked the “beginning of the end” of the conflict that has lasted a year in the Palestinian enclave.
According to the Israeli military, troops on Wednesday “eliminated Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Hamas terrorist organization, in an operation in the southern Gaza Strip” following a protracted hunt.
“While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it’s the beginning of the end,” declared Netanyahu, who pledged to destroy Hamas at the outset of the conflict, in celebration of Sinwar’s death.
His previous statement described Sinwar’s passing as a “significant turning point in the demise of Hamas’s evil rule.”
When Hamas’ political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in July, Sinwar, who was in charge of the terrorist group in Gaza at the time of the October 7 strike that started the war, took over as its overall leader.
