According to reports, Vivek Ramaswamy is being passed up for Secretary of State by Donald Trump, who is apparently choosing Marco Rubio.
According to recent rumors, Donald Trump is considering choosing Senator Marco Rubio over Vivek Ramaswamy to be his secretary of state for his second term in office. Rubio is poised to become the first Latino to serve as the top diplomat of the United States. Rubio has been a crucial ally during Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Trump even examined Rubio as a possible running mate for the 2024 race. Rubio has been a member of the Senate since 2010.
Trump to chose Marco Rubio over Vivek Ramaswamy
Senator Marco Rubio is apparently being considered by President-elect Donald Trump for the role of Secretary of State, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, another important friend, according to ABC News. This choice follows a slew of high-profile appointments to Trump’s cabinet, including the White House Chief of Staff, the National Security Advisor, and the EPA chief.
Ramaswamy would become the second well-known Indian-American MAGA figure to be excluded from Trump’s incoming administration if he is ignored. Haley was formerly the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, but Trump declared she would not be invited for a position. It has been alleged that Haley’s criticism of Trump contributed to this omission.
Who is Marco Rubio?
Rubio is the vice head of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and has been a senator since 2011. The 53-year-old also serves on the chamber’s Committee on Foreign Relations and was a candidate for Trump’s running mate until the Republican Party picked Ohio Senator JD Vance as their vice presidential nominee.
Rubio won the primaries in Minnesota, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, but his attempt to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 was unsuccessful.
Marco Rubio has continuously advocated for a strong and realistic foreign policy, especially with regard to countries such as China, Iran, and Cuba. Despite his tendency to be stern on foreign issues, he has shifted his stance to support Trump’s, particularly when Ukraine was at issue. Rubio was a vocal supporter of Ukraine at first, but he later criticized a $61 billion funding plan for failing to adequately address immigration issues.
“I’m not on Russia’s side — but unfortunately the reality of it is that the way the war in Ukraine is going to end is with a negotiated settlement,” he stated to NBC in September. He believes that negotiations will be used to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and that the United States must ensure that Ukraine has a prominent voice in those negotiations.
Vivek Ramaswamy teases role in Trump’s cabinet
Indian-American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who first ran against Donald Trump in the presidential election before abandoning his campaign and supporting Trump, has alluded to a possible position in the 47th president’s future cabinet.
Jonathan Karl questioned Vivek Ramaswamy on his possible involvement in a second Trump administration during an interview on ABC’s This Week. “There are a few excellent options available,” Ramaswamy said.
It is probable that Vivek Ramaswamy will seek positions in Trump’s cabinet, possibly as the director of the Department of Homeland Security. He might instead concentrate on Ohio politics, where he might be able to take over the Senate seat left empty by J.D. Vance‘s vice presidency.
