The most recent program to be impacted by a scheduling change is the sewing competition.
The Great British Sewing Bee is the latest program to go as channels adjust their schedules to make room for sports coverage.
The broadcaster has announced that a repeat edition of The Repair Shop will now air in place of the sewing competition, which was scheduled to take place at its customary 9pm time slot.
Fortunately, Sewing Bee fans don’t need to fret; this week’s show will now run tomorrow, Wednesday, July 3, at 9 p.m., replacing The Repair Shop in its previous time slot.
The BBC’s schedule is now jam-packed with coverage of Wimbledon tennis and Euro 2024, even though there are no football matches scheduled for tomorrow or Thursday.
Turkey vs. Austria in tonight’s Euros final round of 16 is broadcast on ITV1, and today’s Wimbledon match is broadcast on BBC Two at 9 p.m.
It was revealed earlier today that Andy Murray has pulled out of the Wimbledon singles bracket, although he will still play in the final tournament as his brother Jamie in the doubles.
The Scottish player had to withdraw because of a back issue that required surgery to remove a spinal cyst. His representatives have confirmed that this Championship will be his final one.
There are other sports causing chaos with TV schedules than tennis. The usual calendar of EastEnders has seen a significant change as a result of the Euros, with some days offering double bills and others missing episodes.
Additional schedule adjustments are anticipated to have an impact on normal programming in the upcoming weeks as both sports competitions run into the summer and the Olympics are scheduled to start later in the month.
