According to the prime minister’s office, Sue Gray will start a new role as Starmer’s envoy for the regions and countries.
Rumors of internal strife within British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s team led to Sue Gray, Starmer’s chief of staff, resigning less than three months after the Labour Party won a parliamentary election.
“In recent weeks it has become clear to me that intense commentary around my position risked becoming a distraction to the government’s vital work of change,” Gray stated in a statement.
According to the prime minister’s office, Gray will start a new role as Starmer’s envoy for the regions and countries.
Morgan McSweeney, a former prime minister‘s chief adviser, will succeed Gray, the statement stated.
