Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein, and Hannah Waddingham have all signed deals with the production company.
Fans of Ted Lasso have good news! According to Deadline, the sports drama on Apple TV+ is aiming to get approved for a fourth season. Three of the original lead cast members have been chosen by Warner Bros. Television to return. Cast members whose SAG-AFTRA contracts have expired will be offered new deals by the studio once the trio is signed.
Ted Lasso eyeing a Season 4 return
The cast of the production company includes Jeremy Swift as Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as hardman Roy Kent, and Hannah Waddingham as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton. The trio belongs to Equity, the acting trade union in the UK.
The source also notes that Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), Coach Beard’s actor Brendan Hunt, and the show’s lead character Jason Sudeikis are all executive producers of the revival. Though he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of more seasons, Sudeikis originally imagined the show as a three-season comedy.
The showrunners are willing to keep Ted Lasso on, but they have given Sudeikis complete control over the decision. Not long after the third season ended, rumors of a potential fourth season started to circulate. Since Season 4 was not officially announced as the finale, speculation about it started to circulate, with actors expressing their desire to return to their respective parts.
Ted Lasso Season 4 was hinted at by Warner Bros. TV CEO Channing Dungey earlier this year. Dungey stated to Variety in January, “I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be.”
“I wouldn’t finish that sentence with a period just yet. Ted Lasso is still very much loved. Furthermore, I believe that Apple is still very enthusiastic about Ted Lasso,” Dungey said. “Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back in to making more,” Dungey added. There are always discussions in progress, but nothing formally announced.
