The event occurred on Thursday when Kangana Ranaut, the winner of the Lok Sabha election from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was ready to board an aircraft to Delhi.
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi responded to the event by saying security personnel shouldn’t take the law into their own hands, following the slapping of newly elected MP and actor Kangana Ranaut by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) policeman at Chandigarh airport a few days earlier.
“My feelings for Kangana Ranaut are still intact. However, I find it difficult to join the chorus in applauding “the slap.” None of us can be safe if security guards start enforcing the law,” Shabana Azmi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, today.
The event occurred on Thursday when actor-politician Kangana Ranaut, who won the Lok Sabha election from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was about to board a flight for Delhi.
A verbal altercation breaks out at the check-in counter as Ms. Ranaut is being taken there, according to cellphone footage that swiftly went viral. Ms. Ranaut is not seen getting smacked in the footage.
Later, Ms. Ranaut expressed her alarm over the rise in terrorism in Punjab in a video statement.
“I’m secure. I’m doing great. At the security check-in, the incident took place. The female guard bided her time till I crossed. Then she struck me from the side. She commenced hurling curse words. Why did she hit me, I asked? “I support farmers,” she declared. I’m not in danger, but I’m worried about the rise in terrorism in Punjab. How do we respond to that?” stated Ms. Ranaut.
According to Kulwinder Kaur, the female officer who struck Ms. Ranaut, the actor had “disrespecting farmers” on his hands. “The farmers are waiting for ₹ 100, according to Kangana Ranaut. Is she going to go sit there? When my mother made this declaration, she was sitting there objecting.”
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and the female constable has been suspended.
After observing an old woman who she claimed was “available for ₹ 100,” Ms. Ranaut posted the “Rs 100” comment on X in December 2020, implying that she could be hired to join protests.
Then, in response to global pop sensation Rihanna’s support for the protests in February 2021, Ms. Ranaut dubbed the demonstrators “terrorists” and claimed they were attempting to split India.
Following the abolition of the agricultural regulations in December 2021, demonstrators in Punjab’s Kiratpur Sahib halted the actor’s car and demanded an apology for remarks she had made disparaging farmers. After addressing a few demonstrators, she was given permission to go.
