Resurfaced CCTV footage purports to capture rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in a hotel corridor back in 2016.

CNN released the tape following Ms. Ventura’s claims regarding her former lover and producer in a lawsuit from the previous year.

Although she hasn’t responded, her attorney claimed that this supports “the disturbing and predatory behaviour of Mr. Combs”.

A request for comment has not received a response from Mr. Combs’ attorney.

The video looks to be a composite of perspectives from CCTV film dated March 5, 2016, although the has not independently authenticated it.

It was filmed in the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, according to CNN.

In the video, Ms. Ventura can be seen walking out of a hotel room and toward a series of elevators.

A man without a shirt is seen rushing down a hallway while clutching a towel around his waist.

She drops some bags as he catches up to her and grabs her before throwing her to the ground.

When she’s on the ground, he kicks her once more, picks up her bags, kicks her again, and tries to pull her by her shirt.

After briefly disappearing, the attacker reappears and pushes Ms. Ventura as she gets to her feet. Then he tosses an object while perched in a chair close to the elevators.

In a statement, Douglas Wigdor, the R&B singer Ms Ventura’s attorney, said: “The heartbreaking video has only further confirmed Mr. Combs’ disturbing and predatory behavior.”

“Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

The videotaped attack may be too old to prosecute, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on Friday.

It released a statement saying, “We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.”

“If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”

Ms. Ventura claimed that “around March 2016” Mr. Combs “became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye” in a federal complaint that has since been settled.

“Ms. Ventura attempted to leave the hotel room after Mr. Combs dozed off, but as she did, he woke up and started yelling at her.

“He yelled at her as he followed her into the hotel corridor. As she fled to the elevator, glass broke around them from the man’s grip on her, according to the records. He then grabbed her and threw glass vases from the corridor at her.

The rap mogul allegedly paid $50,000 (£39,000) for the footage from the hotel, according to the lawsuit.

One day after it was filed in November of last year, her lawsuit against Mr. Combs—which accused him of sexual trafficking and rape over a ten-year period—was resolved for an unknown amount.

Benjamin Brafman, the attorney for Mr. Combs, stated at the time that the settlement “is in no way an admission of wrongdoing.”

“Mr. Combs’ choice to resolve the litigation does not contradict his categorically asserted denial of the allegations in any way. He wishes Ms. Ventura the best and is glad they were able to come to an amicable agreement.”

Since then, a number of other women have sued the rapper, claiming he engaged in sexual misconduct.

As a part of a federal investigation into human trafficking, his homes in Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, were seized last month.

Formally, Ms. Ventura was signed to Bad Boy, Mr. Combs’ musical label, and she put out a number of singles in the 2000s, including several with Diddy.

Me & U, Long Way to Go, and Official Girl, starring Lil Wayne, are among of her most well-known songs.
