After giving it some thought, Mira Murati decided to depart ChatGPT, according to a written statement she posted on X.
Mira Murati, the CTO of Open AI, declared on social media site X that she is quitting the company “to create time and space” for personal exploration. Chief research officer Bob McGrew and another research leader Barret Zoph are also departing the company, the CEO of the company, Sam Altman, recently said.
After giving it some thought, Mira Murati decided to depart ChatGPT, according to a statement she wrote on X. “I’m taking a step back in order to give myself the time and room I need to conduct my own research. As of right now, I’m primarily concerned with making sure the transfer goes well and keeping the momentum we’ve established,” she said.
Positively speaking, Mira Murati said that the company is “at the pinnacle of AI innovation” and that she will always appreciate working for it. She also mentioned how difficult it is to leave the organization.
Mira Murati thanked president Greg Brockman and CEO Sam Altman for their support throughout the years, stating that her six and a half years with the company have been a “extraordinary privilege”.
“I will always be appreciative of the chance to form and lead this incredible team. As a team, we’ve worked to enhance human welfare by pushing the limits of scientific knowledge. I will continue to support you all even though I may not be in the trenches with you anymore. With sincere appreciation for the bonds formed, the victories attained, and—above all—the obstacles surmounted in unison, her statement said.
With thanks, Altman acknowledged Murati for her contributions to the organization. Noting that transition plans will be announced “soon,” he noted that changes in leadership are “natural” for an organization that is expanding quickly.
“I am incredibly appreciative of her for everything that she has helped us create and achieve, but above all, I am grateful for her love and support during all of the difficult times. I can’t wait to see what she does next. I simply wanted to take a moment to say thank you, but we’ll talk more about the transition plans soon,” Altman wrote on X.
