China’s Yang Hao and Lian Junjie put on a masterclass that defeated Daley and Williams; Tom Pidcock defends his mountain biking title; and Nadal and Djokovic meet in tennis.
As the action continues in Paris in 2024, the Olympics promise to provide another exciting day full of thrills and spills.
In Monday morning’s men’s synchronized 10m diving final, Chinese competitors Tom Daley and Noah Williams defeated them with a masterclass. Daley and Williams had to settle for silver. Daley was prevented from defending the championship he won in Tokyo three years ago by Yang Hao and Lian Junjie, but it is still an incredible feat for the Team GB flag-bearer to win an Olympic medal at his fifth Games.
Cross-country mountain biker Tom Pidcock is a formidable competitor for the gold medal and will be attempting to defend his title in Paris. On a dramatic Sunday, Team GB grabbed two more gold. In a devastating conclusion, Adam Peaty lost out on a men’s 100-meter breaststroke by only 0.02 seconds. In the canoe slalom, Peaty earned silver and Kimberley Woods bronze.
Elsewhere today, the men’s all-around team final will see the first-ever gymnastics medal awarded, and one of the biggest matchups of the Olympics will take place in tennis as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic square off in an incredible second-round match. Yesterday, Simone Biles made an incredible comeback to the Olympics. She will return on Tuesday in the women’s team final.
