PBKS easily chased down 185 thanks to a 109-run partnership between Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya for the second wicket. MI Vs PBKS
Punjab Kings 187 for 3 (Inglis 73, Arya 62, Santner 2-41) defeated the Mumbai Indians 184 for 7 (Suryakumar 57, Arshdeep 2-28, Jansen 2-34, Vyshak 2-44) by seven wickets.

Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya led Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a seven-wicket thumping of Mumbai Indians (MI), securing a top-two finish and giving them a chance to advance straight to the IPL 2025 final.
The two turned what could have been a stressful match into a canter by adding 109 for the second wicket while chasing a potentially difficult goal. They each scored breathtaking half-centuries. Suryakumar Yadav’s 57, which was his 14th consecutive score of 25 or more in T20 cricket, was therefore far from sufficient.
MI will now play in the Eliminator after Tuesday night’s game finalizes the playoff lineup.
In Qualifier 1, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play PBKS after defeating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They will play MI in the Eliminator on May 30 if they lose.
The knockout strike between Arya and English
Known as a powerplay dasher, Arya showed a new ability in his quickly evolving game when he hit Trent Boult for three fours off his first four deliveries. When PBKS needed momentum after losing Prabhsimran Singh, who had them at 35 for 1 in five overs, he let Inglis set the early pace after he had only scored three single-figure runs.
After settling in, Arya made a strong impression. His short-arm jab off Hardik Pandya for six over wide long-on to reach a 27-ball half-century was the most forceful of his strikes. It wasn’t that. At a time when he could have easily afforded to play Jasprit Bumrah out, he also hooked him over fine leg for six.
For his part, Inglis was similarly bold, combining boldness with power. His first two overs cost 23 runs, but he quickly negated Mitchell Santner’s danger by dragging him to the short leg-side boundary for six.
Ashwani Kumar
Inglis also demonstrated his inventiveness along the road. Ashwani Kumar demonstrated his confidence and clarity with two bold reverse scoops during the knock, one of which was against a slower ball.
He was pursuing more than simply a rookie. Inglis, who once more had no hesitation in using MI’s trump card, took out Hardik.Inglis was as authoritative against Bumrah, driving him up through the line without fear. Because of the second-wicket partnership, PBKS just needed 20 off 18 when Bumrah bowled out by the 17th.
While Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera, a former MI, saw PBKS home without any flutters, Arya and Inglis fell with the target within touching distance.
Potential injuries to Tilak Varma and Deepak Chahar added to MI’s suffering. Chahar’s first powerplay outburst ended with just one ball, severely wrapping his right hamstring. Despite bowling a total of three overs, he appeared to be slow. MI Vs PBKS Tilak, meanwhile, spent the rest of PBKS’ chase off the park after jarring his knee onto the turf while attempting to stop the ball on the boundary rope.
SKY establishes the mood
After PBKS chose to bowl first, Suryakumar walked in at number three in the sixth over. He helped get over a shaky middle phase by batting all the way to the last over, then he and Naman Dhir accelerated towards the end.
Vijaykumar Vyshak’s fourth in the last over went for 23 to increase the likelihood of a grandstand finish. However, PBKS effectively ended the innings when Arshdeep Singh nailed his yorkers in a superb final over that conceded just three runs.
Aside from Suryakumar and Dhir, Hardik (26 off 15) made a significant lower-middle-order contribution. Before the last lift-off gave them a total to bowl at, this provided them impetus.
For a moment, Rohit glows. MI Vs PBKS
Until Rohit Sharma caught up in his last game of the season before leaving for national duty, South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton was in the lead. After struggling against Arshdeep and Marco Jansen, Rohit, dismissed by left-arm seamers four times this season, seemed to find his flow as he took on Harpreet Brar during the powerplay. Overplay.
He lofted him inside-out over cover after first stepping out imperiously to hit him over long-on. Wadhera had to stun him at long-on in order to send him back for 24.

They lost two wickets quickly after PBKS dismissed Rohit, but Hardik, who had faced only 39 balls in the previous six games, and Suryakumar, who reached his half-century off 34 balls, gave them a boost.
Playing just his third match of the season, Vyshak looked set to emerge as the best bowler, but he ended up with 2 for 44 after conceding two fours and two sixes in his penultimate over.
Jansen and Arshdeep also took two wickets each.
There was a feeling that MI might have lost out on a few more runs even though they scored 53 off the final five. Arya and Inglis demonstrated that.
