India’s recent military strikes have caused damage to the Karachi Port, according to a statement released by the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on Friday. The KPT said that India’s strike had resulted in “unacceptable harm to properties” and “significant damage” to the Karachi Port in a post on X (previously Twitter).

The message also said that recovery information would be provided on a regular basis and that emergency response operations were still underway. It said, “We stand resilient.”
The same account, however, had denied any such damage an hour earlier, describing media reports of an Indian strike on Karachi Port as “wholly untrue and baseless.” “The movement of ships, shipping, and cargo handling at Karachi Port is continuing as per routine,” the previous report stated.
Later on, though, the page revealed that the account had been compromised. “A hack was made into the account! The port of Karachi is secure and safe.
The conflicting statements follow India’s “Operation Sindoor,” a retaliatory operation in which the Indian Armed Forces hit nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which escalated military tensions between India and Pakistan. The attacks targeted strategic sites associated with the terrorist groups Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The PoK strikes targeted Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad, while the targets inside Pakistan included Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya. 26 civilians were killed in the Pahalgam terror incident, which prompted the Indian incursion.
After the Indian strikes, Pakistan tried to strike back on the evening of May 7 by employing drones and missiles to attack several Indian military targets in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, including strategic sites like Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Bhuj.
India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defense systems stopped and neutralized these strikes. In order to verify the attempted strikes, debris from these eliminated threats is presently being retrieved.
