US President Joe Biden made an emotional appearance at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. Biden withdrew from the race due to intense backlash regarding his age.
Following First Lady Jill Biden’s speech, the President-elect was greeted warmly on stage. The excitement among the Democrats and attendees was palpable upon Biden’s arrival.
They carried signs that said, “We love Joe.” In response, the President said, “Thank you, thank you, thank you… I cherish you!
“You always tell us, but we don’t tell you enough, that you are the love of our lives and the life of our love,” said Biden’s daughter Ashley as she gave her introduction.
Wiping away tears, the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief joined his daughter Ashley onstage and began his speech with a heartfelt statement about his kids and his wife, Jill. The father and daughter gave each other hugs and spoke to each other. Then he reached into his pocket for a handkerchief and used it to dab his eyes.
Are you ready to vote for freedom?” Biden asks supporters as he praises Kamala Harris
In his opening remarks, Biden questioned the assembly, saying, “Are you ready to vote for freedom, democracy, and America?” The audience gave a loud “yes!” in response.
“Permit me to ask you, are you prepared to elect Tim Walz and Kamala Harris?” The “yes!” was even louder this time.
Reminding the Democrats of all that had transpired in the three and a half years since taking office in the wake of the capitol riots, Biden addressed them.
He talked about the difficulties he encountered after taking office, including COVID-19, historically high rates of unemployment, the need for racial justice, and dangers to democracy.
I come before you now on this August night, full of gratitude, to tell you that democracy has won out. The president said, “Democracy has delivered, and now democracy must be preserved.”
Biden diverted her attention to Harris while simultaneously taking pride in his own achievements.
The President praised Harris and criticized Donald Trump’s criminal history after talking about the country’s decline in violent crime.
According to him, when “we put a prosecutor in the Oval Office instead of a convicted felon,” crime will continue to decline and the murder rate will be “falling faster.”
Trump was called a “loser” by Biden for his assertion that the US is a failing country.
“When he claims that America is a failing country, he means that we are losing. The loser is him. He is utterly incorrect.
