According to reports, police were able to narrowly thwart an ISIS-affiliated plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Austria. On August 7, Wednesday, two suspects were taken into custody.
Two men and a 19-year-old who lived with his parents close to Vienna were among the suspects. After searching the house, police apprehended them. According to the Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung, the home’s contents included a number of chemicals and materials that could have been used to make explosives.
Swift’s concerts at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, where she will be performing as part of her Eras Tour, were thought to be the target of the suspects’ plans. The performances are slated for the evenings of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“The suspected offender was preoccupied with the Taylor Swift performances. Franz Ruf, the Austrian Director General for Public Safety, stated that preparatory actions had been noticed.
“A tangible danger has been avoided,” he continued. Ruf added that authorities have not yet deemed the concerts to be entirely safe. Security measures at the concerts have been tightened, and investigations into other accomplices are still ongoing.
It’s possible that in July, the 19-year-old suspect swore allegiance to ISIS. He is a citizen of Austria. It’s thought that both suspects developed radicalized online ideologies.
Barracuda, Swift’s Austrian show promoter, revealed the information on Instagram. “We have to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety as government officials have confirmed a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium,” the show promoter wrote.

This incident happened a few days after Morgan Wallen’s Kansas City concert had to be postponed because of a “terroristic threat.” In relation to a threat made on social media, a man was taken into custody. According to the post, the suspect was going after two men who were backstage with Wallen; it was implied that these men were Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, and Patrick Mahomes.
The 23-year-old suspect, Aaron Brown III, of Winchester, Illinois, was charged with second-degree terrorist threat, a Class E felony. He is accused of threatening to shoot two Kansas City Chiefs organization members who were present at the Arrowhead Stadium concert.
