The head of the AAP claims he dropped six kilograms while incarcerated and may have a “serious illness”; Delhi court will consider his request for temporary bail today; The BJP queries why Kejriwal participated in campaigning if he was so ill.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked the people of the nation’s capital to “take care of my parents” as he, as the “son” of every household in the city, sought to take care of them. On Friday, a day before his interim bail expires, he said he was “proud” of going to jail to “save the country from dictatorship.”
Kejriwal, who is scheduled to turn himself in to Tihar Jail on June 2, stated in a video address that his administration will not cease working in Delhi. He stated that on Sunday at 3 p.m., he will depart for jail from his home. He added that he might be “tortured” while incarcerated.
After the Supreme Court declined to hear the case, he filed applications for both regular and temporary bail in a Delhi court. The temporary bail plea will be heard by the Rouse Avenue court on Saturday.
“We are all fighting dictatorship together. If something happens to me to save the country, if I even lose my life, do not be sad,” the Chief Minister said.
As your family’s son, I have always carried out my obligations. I would like to ask you a question today regarding my family. My mother is really sick, my parents are very old, and I worry a lot about her being in jail. After I’m gone, look after my folks. You will undoubtedly keep my mother well if you pray for her every day,” he stated.
Kejriwal had petitioned the Supreme Court to extend his provisional release so that medical professionals may evaluate his health and abrupt weight loss following his detention on March 21 in relation to the Delhi excise policy issue. AAP officials claim that during his time in the Enforcement Directorate’s detention, he shed six to seven kilograms.
In his speech, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for granting him bail so he could run in the Lok Sabha elections for 21 days.
“I have to give up the day after tomorrow since my 21 days are running out tomorrow. The day after tomorrow, I’ll return to Tihar Jail. I have no idea how long these people will keep me incarcerated this time. But I’m feeling good,” he remarked.
“I’m honored to be serving a jail sentence in order to prevent a tyranny in our nation. They made several attempts to quiet me and break me. However, they were unsuccessful, Kejriwal claimed in the video message, adding that he had been “tortured” in incarcerated.
“They tormented me in numerous ways.” They took away my medications; I’ve had severe diabetes for the past 20 years. When my insulin shots were halted while I was incarcerated, my blood sugar level rose to 325 and 300 mg/dL. The kidneys and liver suffer harm if the blood sugar level stays high for an extended period of time. He remarked, “I have no idea why these folks did this or what they wanted.
Speaking about the necessity of diagnostic testing prior to being sent back to prison, the AAP leader stated, “My weight was 70 kg when I was detained. It weighs 64 kg now. My weight hasn’t increased since I was let out of jail. According to medical professionals, this can also indicate a serious illness within the body. Numerous tests are required, and my urine’s ketone level has significantly climbed.
The Chief Minister remarked, “Your free electricity, mohalla clinics, hospitals, free medicines, treatment, free bus travel for women, 24 hour electricity and all other works will continue.” He also added that the Delhi government will carry on operating during his departure. Additionally, I’ll start giving every mother and sister a monthly donation of Rs 1,000 whenever I return.
