Following reports of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, which descended into political turmoil following the removal of Sheikh Hasina, Yogi Adityanath made his statement.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, made a call for unity on Monday in reference to the ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh.

Nothing is greater than the country. And only when we stand together will the country gain strength. “Kate to Batenge.” What’s happening in Bangladesh is visible to you. Here, those errors must not be made again. At a public gathering in Agra, the chief minister declared, “Batenge to Katenge, Ek Rahenge to Nek Rahenge.”

Adityanath questioned the opposition the day before regarding its “silence” regarding attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The opposition has been remarkably silent about the persecution of Hindus and the destruction of temples in Bangladesh, despite being quick to speak out on global issues. He stated in Mathura, “They see Palestine but ignore Bangladesh out of fear of losing their voter base.

The announcement from the chief minister of the Uttar Pradesh comes amid rumors of turmoil in the nation that speaks Bangla. The country went into political turmoil on August 5 after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina quit and left the nation.

    Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh

Reports have surfaced of widespread attacks against Hindus, who make up 8% of Bangladesh’s population. While community members’ properties have been attacked by the mob, Hindu temples have been vandalized.

Hindus had traditionally supported Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League, which spearheaded the nation’s independence effort in 1971. A minority rights organization called the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council informed AFP on August 16 that since the Awami League chief left, there had been 200 attacks against members of the Hindu community.

While congratulating Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on X Post, “We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities.”
