Marsch calls for Argentina fine for second-half delay
Argentina’s lengthy delay in taking the field again for the second half was discussed by Jesse Marsch after the game. “When they were waiting, I knew that they were looking at video and they were analyzing how they wanted to play against us,” Marsch said. I wish again that the refs could pull that off. We would be fined if we were five minutes late. There would be a serious issue.
“Let’s observe Argentina’s situation. They should be fined, in my opinion. To what extent were they late? You two? Twenty minutes? Thirty? I’m not sure. It had been a while. However, they used that time to plan how they would counter us in the second half, and we could have done more preparation if we had been informed in advance that we would have an additional 10 minutes. Nevertheless, we managed it in the end by simply ensuring that the players were aware that they would present a revised strategy and that they would essentially rotate to three guys.
At the news conference, Marsch continued to joke with the reporters, saying “Argentina should be fined.” Alright? Penalized. Put that in writing. Hello. La Nacion,” Marsch stated with a broad smile. “They should be fined for coming out 20 minutes late for the second half.”

Artem K.: I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Canada perform with such bravery. Fun to watch, but our goalie has had a lot of work to do after playing so well today.
Dom M.: Canada is definitely starting to show up. Considering they are playing the best team in the world, Canada put on a pretty strong performance. Whatever the result, Canada should be proud of its endeavor.
Simar: Shaffelburg is incredibly impressive; he plays fearlessly and takes on opponents. This is exactly what the team needs to win these kinds of games, but the team as a whole is lacking the finishing touch. Many good things, but we urgently need our first goal under Marsch.
Simar raises an important point: in Marsch’s three games, Canada has been outscored 6-0 so far…
Canada created plenty of chances

Classic Argentina, kind of. Although this was by no means a complete defensive shutout, Lionel Scaloni’s team has now won six of their seven competitive games since winning the World Cup: 1-0, 3-0, 1-0, 2-0, 1-0, and 2-0.
Although Argentina has only allowed nine efforts on goal from Canada in 15 games, they still had their moments, with both Jonathan David and Stephen Eustaquio missing close-range headers.
The outcome will go to the reigning champions, and the performance will most likely go to the newcomers.
