Amanatullah Khan, an AAP MLA, was taken into custody on Monday by the Enforcement Directorate. After the agency raided his home and interrogated him for six hours, the action was taken.
Amanatullah Khan posted on X on Monday morning, stating that he was going to be arrested by Enforcement Directorate officials who had shown up at his Okhla, the national capital. He wrote, “ED people have come to my house to arrest me.”
The AAP MLA claimed in a self-produced video that he had been harassed by the investigating agency nonstop for the previous two years.
“The ED has come to arrest me on the pretext of a search warrant at seven in the morning. My mother-in-law is at my house right now; she has cancer. In addition to responding to each of their notices, I have written to them. I’ve had constant harassment from these people for the past two years. Their only goal is to ruin our celebration. We will not submit, nor will we crumble,” declared Khan.
Recently, the agency filed a complaint against Khan for failing to appear in person regarding the purported irregularities in the leasing of its properties and appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board case.
The federal investigative agency had claimed that Khan was fleeing the investigation and had changed his status from witness to accused by entering an anticipatory bail plea. The attorney for ED went on to say that because the subject did not appear in front of the agency, they were never able to wrap up the investigation against him.
Charge sheets have already been submitted against one company and four defendants. Allegations have been made that ₹100 crore worth of Waqf Properties were illegally leased. Furthermore, it is purported that under Khan’s chairmanship, 32 contract workers were appointed to the Delhi Waqf Board in violation of the law.
