The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given its approval, therefore it is still up in the air whether India will visit Pakistan.
“All board chiefs of the ICC Champions Trophy participating countries (minus BCCI) have assured him of their complete support but BCCI will consult its government and update the ICC,” according to a member of the ICC board.
The final ICC tournament is scheduled to take place on March 10, with February 19–9, Pakistan serving as the host country.
As information continues to come in, India has been grouped with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in Group A, and Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan in Group B.
According to the PTI story, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had earlier suggested a 15-match schedule, with all of India’s matches being held in Lahore for logistical and security concerns. Naqvi was also invited to see the T20 World Cup final in Barbados.
“The 15-match ICC Champions Trophy draft has been turned in by the PCB. Three in Karachi, five in Rawalpindi, and seven in Lahore,” the PTI’s ICC source added.
“The first game will take place in Karachi, followed by semifinals in Rawalpindi and Karachi, and a final in Lahore.” All India games are played in Lahore, including the semifinals if the team advances,” the insider continued.
Just before the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup, Pakistan and Sri Lanka co-hosted the Asia Cup in 2023 using a “Hybrid Model,” with India hosting its Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka.
