The accused in the rape and murder case in Kolkata will most likely undergo a polygraph test on Tuesday, according to the CBI.

On Tuesday, August 20, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is expected to administer a polygraph test to Sanjoy Roy, the accused in the rape and murder case in Kolkata. Permission to test the accused, a volunteer citizen, who is accused of raping and killing a 31-year-old trainee doctor on August 9 inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was given to the CBI on Monday.

A local court granted the CBI court permission to administer a polygraph test to the accused, following the agency’s psychoanalysis test. The purpose of the polygraph test is to ascertain the accused’s level of involvement in the case.

Sanjoy Roy is the only person accused because the CBI investigation has not yet turned up any additional information about him or the case. The victim’s parents, meanwhile, have claimed that the rape was committed by a gang and that several hospital staff members were involved.
