Senior Madhya Pradesh BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Prabhat Jha passed away on Friday (26 July). He was ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. He was originally from Bihar. Prabhat Jha has been the party in-charge of Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over his demise.

Mohan Yadav said, “Received the very sad news of the demise of former state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Madhya Pradesh, senior leader respected Shri Prabhat Jha ji. May Baba Mahakal give place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this terrible blow. Your important role in the development of Madhya Pradesh will always inspire us. Your demise is an irreparable loss for the political world. Om Shanti!”
The last rites will be performed in the native village
Prabhat Jha’s mortal remains will be cremated in his native village in Bihar. He will be taken to Sitamarhi by a special plane this evening.
67-year-old Prabhat Jha was admitted to Delhi a month ago for intensive treatment. During this time, many senior BJP leaders including Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had reached the hospital to meet him.
Reached Rajya Sabha twice
Prabhat Jha, who started his career as a journalist from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, later joined the BJP and became the president of the party’s Madhya Pradesh unit in 2010. Jha was elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh in 2008 and remained in the Rajya Sabha till 2020. He also served as the national vice-president of the BJP in 2015.
