Uddhav Thackeray dubbed Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis “Kans Mamas” in the Badlapur sexual abuse case, accusing them of focusing on Rakhis as crime rates rise.
Leaders and activists of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which is made up of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress, demonstrated against the alleged sexual assault of two young girls in Badlapur on Saturday in the rain while donning black bands across their arms and foreheads.
Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT) and a former chief minister, participated in the demonstration outside the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. Attacking the state government headed by Eknath Shinde, Thakceray claimed the ruling regime was supporting the defendants in the case.
“We successfully planned a bandh and would have carried it out, but they were afraid of it and sent their people to court.” To ensure the safety of our daughters and sisters, we declared a bandh. Why is Maharashtra opposing the bandh? Thacchay enquired.
He mocked chief minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy, Devendra Fadnavis, saying that while crime against women is on the rise, these “Kans Mamas” were occupied tying Rakhis. He claimed that Maharashtra has never seen such a “shameless government.”
According to Shiv Sena-UBT Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, there have been 12 such incidents in the last 10 days, indicating an increase in atrocities against women and girls in the state.
“A new POCSO Act case is filed in Thane every day. To that end, we are demonstrating. Terrifying crimes are occurring in Maharashtra, following Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtran women are inquiring about Shakti law, the woman said.
Sanjay Raut, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), claimed that calling for a bandh was constitutional and that everyone had the right to express their opposition to crimes.
“Leaders from the three ruling parties will take to the streets to protest against the events in Badlapur, even though we have called off the bandh,” Raut stated.
However, Jayant Patil, the leader of the NCP-SP, and Congresswoman Nana Patole took part in the demonstration alongside party employees.
Raut remarked, “It is peculiar that the court declares our bandh to be unconstitutional, but it renders no decision regarding unconstitutional state government.”
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party staged protests throughout the state in response to the opposition’s protest. BJP members demonstrated in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, calling for the accused in the Badlapur case to face a prompt trial and the harshest punishment possible.
BJP leaders insisted that the accused receive a harsh punishment and that the case be tried in a fast-track court. “We would not put up with crimes against women,” declared Atul Save, a BJP politician and state minister for housing.
According to Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, political parties or individuals were not allowed to hold a Maharashtra bandh today or on any other day in the future by the Bombay High Court on Friday.
In accordance with the court’s ruling, we have called off the bandh. Law and order is totally destroyed, and crime against women is rising daily. It is the opposition’s responsibility to speak up in situations like these when the government is not paying attention, according to a PTI quote from Wadettiwar.
How was the victim’s family made aware of the sexual assault?
Before the family learned of the horrifying crime, one of the victims in the Badlapur sexual abuse case had difficulty walking and hesitated to use the restroom.
Massive protests have been held across the state as a result of the crime, and on August 24, the opposition called for a “Maharashtra Bandh.” According to the 4-year-old girl’s close relative, the victim is still in shock. At first, the child’s refusal to attend school perplexed the family.
According to the relative, who spoke to the news channel, the family believed she had a urinary tract infection because she was refusing to use the restroom.
According to the relative, the other victim’s parents informed them that their daughter had complained about a “dada” mistreating her. They also went for the medical test because she refused to go to the restroom or to school.
The relative continued, “The test results indicated sexual assault.”
The incident happened on August 13 in the school’s restroom, according to the FIR. On August 16, the parents filed a complaint.
The 23-year-old cleaner at the school, Akshay Shinde, has been taken into custody by the police on charges of child abuse against the 4-year-olds.
