Singer Bruce Springsteen declared that Donald Trump was a “American tyrant” who “did not understand this country” and backed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Singer Bruce Springsteen called Republican opponent Donald Trump a “American tyrant” while attending the star-studded event for US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in Georgia on Thursday (local time).
‘The Boss’, Springsteen, offered his support for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz as he took the stage in Atlanta, Georgia, where early voting for the presidential race started. Trump “did not understand this country or what it means to be deeply American,” the 75-year-old musician remarked in reference to the former president.
“The 47th president of the United States is Kamala Harris. Donald Trump is vying to become a despot in the United States. He doesn’t know the history of this nation or what it means to be a true American. For this reason, I will be voting for Tim Walz and Kamala Harris on November 5. “Thank you, I encourage all of you who support the American way to join me,” he said to an enthusiastic audience.
Using his desire for a president who upholds the Constitution, defends “our great democracy,” and advocates for women’s rights, Springsteen argued for Harris.
“I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten, but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle-class economy that will serve all our citizens,” he stated.
The legendary musician supported Harris, stating that he was against Trump and his running mate JD Vance and that there was only one presidential candidate who would uphold these values.
Springsteen had captured the audience’s attention with an acoustic version of his song ‘The Promised Land’ before to starting his brief statement. He sang ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ next, then ‘Dancing in the Dark’ at the finale.
In addition to Springsteen, Kamala Harris was joined at her rally by a number of well-known people, such as Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson and filmmaker Spike Lee. Beyonce, a musician who has won multiple Grammy Awards, is anticipated to join Harris’ campaign tour on Friday.
Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder, who attended the Vice President’s campaign rally on her 60th birthday earlier this week, were among the other music legends that endorsed Harris.
Harris encouraged the audience to vote against fear and division throughout the event, take advantage of early voting, and reject Trump.
“We recognize that, thanks to Donald Trump, we have a chance to move past the fear and division that have defined our politics for the past ten years. Vote early, please,” she urged.
