September 20 is when Binny and Family is expected to premiere in theaters.
The film Binny and Family has a trailer available now. Naman Tripathy, making his acting debut, and Anjini Dhawan, Varun Dhawan’s niece, star in the coming-of-age drama. Two NRI schoolchildren are shown in the beginning of the video eating their tiffin and discussing how hard it is to get along with grandparents while perched atop a car trunk. Not too long after, Anjini’s character Binny is presented to us.
Not only is she an extrovert, but she also smokes in the restroom, enjoys making videos, going out with friends, and drinks alcohol. When Charu Shankar’s character, Binny’s mother, calls to see how she’s doing, she becomes agitated and tells her to “chill out.” The father of the adolescent, Rajesh Kumar, says shortly after that his parents are arriving by plane from India and will be staying with them for two months. It’s obvious that Binny is not pleased with their arrival.
When Binny’s grandparents—Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri—begin placing limitations on her, the situation becomes even more dramatic. They request that she eat with everyone, get home on time, and avoid spending too much time in the restroom. The young lady can even be heard on the phone with her friend, describing how her grandmother sewed her rough jeans. In between, Binny’s parents also discuss how their own parents would not comprehend what “space” is.
Pankaj Kapur says to Binny, “Ladki jaat ho,” in a severe manner. To kisko muh dikhange hum log, kuch anhoni ho gaya. She can then be seen yelling in agony as she runs through the streets. Additionally, the viewers are shown how Binny’s father and grandfather are separated by a generation.
We also receive a heartfelt message about how the generation gap is exacerbated by the communication gap. In a hilarious scene near the end, Binny’s grandfather discovers a poster of Dr. Dre in her room and mistakes him for a real doctor.
