The attack on Anil Deshmukh, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) and a former home minister of Maharashtra, has deeply alarmed opposition political leaders, who have stated that violence has no place in society or politics.
“It is appalling that Anil Deshmukh, the former home minister of Maharashtra, was attacked. There is no place for violence in our society or politics. On X (formerly Twitter), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha urged authorities to act quickly against the offenders.
On Monday night, stones were thrown at Anil Deshmukh’s automobile in Nagpur district, causing injuries. Around 8:00 p.m., Anil Deshmukh was on his way back to Katol from a meeting in Narkhed village when he was attacked. He was treated right away at the Katol Civil Hospital.
In a post on X, Arvind Kejriwal, the former chief minister of Delhi and national convenor of the AAP, also denounced the attack.
“I firmly condemn Anil Deshmukh ji’s potentially fatal assault. “A democratic society cannot tolerate violence,” Kejriwal stated in the post.
The attack on Anil Deshmukh was characterized by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi as an indication of lawlessness under the current Maharashtra administration.
The assault on former Maharashtra Home Minister Shri Anil Deshmukh is deeply concerning and serves as a reminder of the heinousness with which thugs have been operating under this Mahajhoothi administration. In a post, Priyanka wished him a quick recovery.
“Sharing visuals of Deshmukh being taken in an ambulance, Lok Sabha MP from Baramati, Supriya Sule said, “Extremely scared and anxious! I hope @AnilDeshmukhNCP ji gets well soon!
Vikas Thakre, the leader of the Congress, too voiced his concern about the attack and emphasized how serious the situation is. Deshmukh, who is undergoing treatment for his injuries, is presently unable to speak, he told PTI.
Given that a former minister could be singled out in this manner, Thakre wondered what such brutality meant for regular people.
