Ahoi Ashtami 2024: Rituals and significance
Customarily. Mothers observed the Ahoi Ashtami vrat for the health and longevity of their sons. In contemporary times, both girls and sons observe the fast. On this day, devotees worship the goddess Ahoi Ashtami Bhagwati. She is the goddess Parvati in a new form. They ask the goddess for her blessings so that their kids would be well.
Mothers get up early on the day of Ahoi Ashtami, before daybreak, and eat a pre-dawn meal before beginning the fast. After doing Ahoi Ashtami Bhagwati’s aarti and puja, they begin their 24-hour fast without taking a single sip of water or bite of food.
In order to execute the Ahoi Ashtami puja, folks doodle a crimson drawing of Ahoi Bhagwati Mata on their home wall. As an alternative, the mandir or puja space can house an idol or image of the deity. Around the statue, devotees also sketch or preserve emblems of the sun, moon, stars, and holy basil. Following the puja, the prasad is distributed and the Ahoi Vrat Katha is read.
