Smriti Biswas, a seasoned performer who starred in several Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali movies, passed away at home in Nashik, Maharashtra, on Thursday, according to sources.
Smriti, 100, passed away late on Wednesday night due to age-related complications, they reported. She was a well-known actor from the past and was renting an apartment near Nashik Road with a one-room kitchen.

As a young artist, she began her career and appeared in films directed by renowned directors such as Raj Kapoor, BR Chopra, Guru Dutt, V Shantaram, Bimal Roy, and Mrinal Sen.
In a number of movies, Smriti had costarring roles with performers like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar, and Balraj Sahni. Her cinematic début was in the Bengali film Sandhya (1930). 1960’s Model Girl was her final Hindi movie. After her marriage to director S D Narang, she had given up acting.
Following her husband’s passing, she relocated to Nashik. On February 17, 2024, Smriti celebrated her 100th birthday. According to the sources, she is survived by her two sons, Rajeev and Satyajeet.
