A Devil Wears Prada sequel is currently under development, eighteen years after the first installment became popular. Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep will probably return to their roles.
A follow-up to David Frankel’s smash 2006 workplace drama The Devil Wears Prada has been long overdue, particularly in light of the cast reunion at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Actor on Actor conversation between Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway. According to a Puck story, a sequel is in the works, and Meryl Streep will play Miranda Priestly again. What’s going to happen in the sequel?
Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the first installment, is reportedly in talks to write the sequel’s script. According to reports, the plot would center on Miranda, the editor of the prestigious fashion magazine Runaway, as she battles the fall of traditional print advertising. She then squares up against Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, a former assistant who is currently a senior executive at a luxury business. Miranda needs the money from advertising, but would Emily give it to her again after their awful working relationship?
Based on the synopsis provided above, it seems likely that Meryl and Emily will repeat their roles in the sequel. There is no information available, though, on Anne Hathaway’s involvement as Andrea Sachs, Miranda’s other former assistant who left her at the conclusion of the previous movie.
About The Devil Wears Prada
Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name, which focused on a young woman’s horrific experience working at a fashion magazine, served as the inspiration for The Devil Wears Prada. Based on Lauren’s firsthand account, Miranda Priestly appeared to be modeled after Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue. In addition to grossing $326.7 million globally, the movie nominated Meryl for an Oscar and won her a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy. Patricia Field, who designed the costumes, was also nominated for an Academy Award.
Stanley Tucci appeared in the picture, which was produced by 20th Century Fox. Disney is producing the follow-up following its 2019 acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The movie has also been turned into a stage musical, with original songs by Elton John and Vanessa Williams in the role of Miranda Priestly.
