The summer preparations for Manchester United are now well underway. Following their Sunday afternoon signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, the Red Devils took on Rosenborg, a top-tier team in Norway, to begin their preseason schedule.
Erik ten Hag selected a youthful starting lineup, but Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Mason Mount, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka saw action. After a lackluster performance that saw United lose 1-0 in Norway, Ten Hag demanded more of his players.
Now, attention will be focused on their journey to the US later this month. Before Ten Hag’s team plays its opening match of the season against Fulham, new sporting director Dan Ashworth will be looking to bolster his roster with a number of fresh additions.
Having said that, MEN Sport has examined the most recent rumors and reports about United that have surfaced over the past 24 hours.
PSG back out of Yoro race
Leny Yoro, a center back for Lille, has long been a target for Man United. It was claimed earlier this month that the Red Devils’ bid was accepted by the French club, but the transfer was being held up by the player’s choice.
Although Real Madrid is thought to be his top choice, the European champions and Lille have not yet reached an agreement. Luckily for United, PSG appears to have withdrawn from the competition, cutting the number of suitors for the teenager’s signature to just two.
United is ‘pushing hard’ to land Yoro, according to RMC Sport. Ten Hag may lose out on Yoro because PSG is exploring a transfer for Joao Neves instead of the midfield player.
Dream Mainoo partner identified
United has improved their defense quickly during the transfer season, but Ashworth and Ten Hag still prioritize center midfield, and there have been rumors linking Crystal Palace player Adam Wharton to a move to Old Trafford.
The England international is now on United’s radar, claims CaughtOffside. Wharton just transferred from Blackburn to Selhurst Park in January, but during his brief time in the Premier League, he made an impression.
With Casemiro and Scott McTominay’s futures uncertain, the left-footed box-to-box midfielder has been regarded as Kobbie Mainoo’s ideal partner for years to come in Manchester.
