The celebrated actress Shelley Duvall, who was best known for her parts in “The Shining” and “Nashville,” went yesterday at the age of 75 from complications related to her diabetes.

Dan Gilroy, her companion, verified the information and disclosed that Duvall was receiving hospice care and had been bedridden for several months as a result of problems from her diabetes. Gilroy reported that she died quietly while sleeping.
“My sweet, wonderful, and beloved friend and life companion passed away. She has suffered too much lately; she is now free. “Go, lovely Shelley,” Gilroy stated to The Hollywood Reporter.
“She’s gone after much suffering,” NBC News was later informed by him. “Words cannot express how much I miss her.”

The star of “The Shining” and “Popeye” has a long history in the movie business. She worked with renowned filmmaker Robert Altman on a number of films, including her feature debut in “Brewster McCloud” (1970).
