Pop singer Justin Timberlake allegedly drove past a stop sign and veered out of his lane at the upscale beachfront summer resort, leading to charges of drunk driving in a Hamptons community.
According to a court record, the boy band singer-turned-solo artist and actor was stopped by a police in Sag Harbor at around 12:30 in the morning on Tuesday, local time, and it was discovered that he was drunk. He was operating a 2025 BMW.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests,” according to the court papers.
Mr. Timberlake, 43, informed the policeman that he had one martini and was following some friends home, according to the documents.
According to court documents, he refused a breathalyzer test after being taken into custody and brought to a police station in neighboring East Hampton.
After being arraigned in Sag Harbor, the ten-time Grammy winner was later freed without posting bond on Tuesday morning.
He was charged with a misdemeanor of driving while drunk, and the district attorney’s office for Suffolk County reported that his next court date was set for July 26.
Requests for response from The Associated Press were not immediately answered by Mr. Timberlake’s attorneys or representatives.
Mr. Timberlake will perform on Friday and Saturday in Chicago. Then, on June 25 and 26, he has a performance scheduled at Madison Square Garden in New York.
