The tune was “partially written and demo’d during home studio sessions years ago — but ultimately left unfinished”
Dave Grohl and company kicked off their summer tour in the UK last night (June 13) at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford. The band changed up their set list to include a few surprises.
The night’s biggest surprise was a song that had never been heard before called “Unconditional.” The song was “partially written and demo’d during home studio sessions years ago — but ultimately left unfinished,” a band spokesman told Consequence of Sound.
According to the statement, “‘Unconditional’ was rediscovery by the band in typical Foo Fighters fashion: the song was brought up in conversation during UK tour rehearsals, and after just one run-through, the decision was made to share it with everyone in the same way – live.

The band played the trio of “Monkey Wrench,” “Learn To Fly,” and “No Son Of Mine” to open their concert. Throughout the evening, they also performed favorites like “The Pretender,” “Walk,” “My Hero,” “The Sky Is A Neighbourhood,” and “Best Of You.”
