Friday, May 17, 2024, at Manchester Crown Square Court, a majority decision found Rebecca Joynes (30/12/1993) of Waterman Walk, Salford, guilty of six sexual offenses against two boys.
Joynes was charged with six counts of sexual activity after being detained on suspicion of having sex with a child on October 18, 2021. The charges include two counts of having sex with a child by a person in a position of trust and four counts of having sex with a minor.
The court was informed that Joynes made contact with two adolescent boys that she had met while working as a teacher at a school in Greater Manchester. These lads cannot be identified for legal reasons.
Prior to having sex with him in her apartment, Joynes allegedly took a student to the Trafford Center where she purchased a £345 Gucci belt as part of her grooming process.
Joynes was then suspended from her position and it was revealed that she had become pregnant with the second boy, whom she had met when she was fifteen.
We looked into the claims of the first victim, and as we did so, she was detained, barred from her job, and granted bail.
Joynes was prohibited from communicating with anyone under the age of eighteen, but at this point, she was conversing with the other boy on social media.
She stated that they had not had sex until after she was fired, at which point she became pregnant, even though Joynes had supposedly informed him that her health prevented her from being pregnant. After she gave him a baby grow, he found out, “to his great shock,” that she was pregnant.
24 hours after delivery, their daughter was taken from her after an urgent court appearance.
Joynes’ sentencing will be decided later.
First and first, I would want to express my gratitude to the victims and their families for having the courage to come forward and cooperate with our investigation, as stated by Detective Constable Beth Alexander of our Child Protection Investigation Unit in Salford.
Rebecca Joynes is a predatory woman. Since she was their instructor, they appropriately put their trust in her.
However, Joynes made the decision to misuse her authority by grooming two teens with it.
“We applaud the decision rendered today and will now watch as Joynes is held accountable for her deeds.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the investigating team for their diligence and commitment throughout this inquiry, as well as the police who have worked closely with the victims and their families to determine the complete circumstances of this case.
“The two victims and their families want to move on with their lives and put this ordeal behind them. They have asked that their privacy be respected both now and in the future.”
