Nicole Kidman, 56, received the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her 40-year career, which featured roles in movies such as Eyes Wide Shut and Moulin Rouge.
On Sunday, Nicole Kidman received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute. The Hollywood Reporter claims that although a number of her co-stars were there to honor the Australian actor, it was her ex-husband Tom Cruise who received a subdued mention in her acceptance speech.
What Nicole said
During her statement to accept her prize, Nicole expressed gratitude to her co-stars and discussed how they had taught her valuable lessons. You might never see some of them again, but you might run into some of them again. She continued, “With some of them, you fall in love, you get married, and you laugh and joke around a lot and cry a lot.”
From 1990 to 2001, Nicole and Tom were wed for a total of 11 years. They got together on Days of Thunder sets in 1989. Throughout their marriage, they adopted a daughter and a boy. She subsequently disclosed that during the conclusion of their marriage, she miscarried. Nicole talked candidly about her marriage to Tom in an interview with Ladies’ Home Journal. He was and is enormous. He was just Tom to me, but he’s big to everyone else. However, I adored him and he was kind to me. I adore him still,” she’d declared.
Nicole’s AFI honor
Keith Urban, a country music musician, and Nicole are now wed. When Keith mentioned that she had shown him “what love in action really looks like” when his substance addiction issues surfaced nearly right away after their 2006 wedding, she started crying.
“I’m in rehab for three months, four months into our marriage,” Urban stated, glancing at Kidman, who was sitting on a dais with their two daughters and other family members. “Nic chose love despite all of the doubters, probably including some of her own. And now, eighteen years later,” he continued.
Nicole claimed that the evening was the first time she had ever had their adolescent daughters accompany her on the red carpet.
Nicole’s upcoming filmography includes the television series The Perfect Couple and The Last Anniversary, as well as the films A Family Affair, Holland, Michigan, and Babygirl.
