According to rumors circulating, Liverpool has finally found their guy, breaking the deadlock so they can appoint a new coach.
Arne Slot is about to be officially announced as Liverpool’s next manager following the principle agreement on a compensation package with Feyenoord.
The 45-year-old Dutchman is the favourite to replace departing Anfield great Jurgen Klopp in mid-May, when the Eredivisie season comes to a close.
It’s believed that negotiations with Feyenoord, the dominant team in Holland, have come to an end.
Additionally, it’s believed that Slot’s Liverpool contract specifics have been resolved.
It is anticipated that his upcoming appointment will be confirmed in a few days.
It happened a day after Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill attempted to confront the former AZ Alkmaar chief about the move and was grabbed and held away from him.
In 2019, he led Liverpool to Champions League victory and the Premier League championship the following year.
But the Reds’ 2-0 loss to Everton on Wednesday dropped them to third place in the standings, two points behind Manchester City, who still have a game in hand, and three points behind leaders Arsenal.
Throughout his 18-year playing career, Slot—Klopp’s successor—was a reliable goal-scoring midfield player.
He played at first club Zwolle for seven years, scoring 50 goals in 164 appearances.
After that, he spent five years with NAC Breda and a brief stint with Sparta Rotterdam from 2007 to 2010, before concluding his playing career with Zwolle.
It should come as no surprise that Slot transitioned from playing to coaching at Zwolle after retiring in 2013.
After leading Cambur, a Dutch second-tier team, from 2016 to 2017, he accepted the Alkmaar position two years later.
