April 25, marks the release of Fallout 4’s eagerly anticipated free next-generation update, which brings with it performance and quality enhancements to make the 2015 role-playing game appear and feel possibly better than before. Even though the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles have been available since 2020, Bethesda refers to this update as next-generation.
The performance and quality mode selections are the update’s main features. Players can play the game at up to 60 frames per second with 4K resolution by using the “Performance” option. The game runs at 30 frames per second at 4K in “Quality” setting (no dynamic scaling).
The Fallout 4 PlayStation Plus owners are not yet able to access this update. GameSpot has contacted Bethesda to inquire about the matter, although it’s unclear if that’s intentional or the result of some sort of technical glitch.
Fallout 4’s next-generation patch was first revealed in 2022 and was supposed to launch in 2023, however Bethesda postponed it until 2024. It comes out today, shortly after the Fallout TV series on Prime Video debuted and contributed to a rise in the game’s user base. This next-generation update is probably going to entice more people to try Fallout 4 again or for the first time.
Gamers of Fallout 4 on PS4 and Xbox One can now download a free update that addresses quest and login problems as well as stability issues. For PCs, there is also a free update that comes with several fixes and support for widescreen and ultra-widescreen monitors. In addition, the Epic Games Store is now another location where you may purchase Fallout 4. In addition, those who play Fallout 4 on Valve’s portable device can now verify their credentials with Steam Deck.
Fallout now has a free update that includes extra Creation Club content. Content from “Enclave Remnants” is among them, which players can obtain by finishing the novel quest “Echoes of the Past.” See the entire set of patch notes below for further details.
It’s unclear how this latest update may affect user-made mods for Fallout 4. The next-generation update caused the Fallout London mod’s creators to postpone its release. Check out GameSpot’s list of the top 50 Fallout 4 mods for 2024 if you’re seeking for mods to play.
It should be noted that the Creation Club/Mods menu was momentarily unavailable but is now operational again when Bethesda releases the update for PC and console. Another important piece of information is that Game Pass and Game Pass Core offer free access to Fallout 4.
