RR appeared to have the advantage with six wickets remaining and nine needed off the final over, but Mitchell Starc changed the course of events. Delhi Capitals Vs Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals 188 for 4 (Rana 51, Jaiswal 51, Samson 31, Axar 1-23, Starc 1-36) tied Delhi Capitals 188 for 5 (Porel 49, Rahul 38, Stubbs 34*, Axar 34, Archer 2-32). DC won the Super Over.

In the 2025 Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) should have easily defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) with nine runs needed and six wickets remaining. However, Mitchell Starc changed the course of events by hitting five accurate yorkers in a thrilling last over. Starc forced the game into a Super Over as Dhruv Jurel was unable to find two runs off the final ball.
In the Super Over, RR collapsed, losing both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag to run-outs after only five balls. DC needed just four deliveries to chase down the 12-run mark.
To secure DC’s fifth victory in six games and move them to the top of the standings, Tristan Stubbs pulled Sandeep Sharma for six when DC needed five runs off three. In regular time, Stubbs had earlier helped DC score 42 off the final three overs with a crucial unbeaten 18-ball score of 34.
The Stubbs program
At Arun Jaitley Stadium, the team batting first has broken the 200-run threshold in each of the previous eight Twenty20 matches. Before Stubbs teamed up with Axar Patel, who also provided momentum by taking down Wanindu Hasaranga to make 34 off 14, DC didn’t appear to be coming near.
RR didn’t finish well either. In what turned out to be an 11-ball over that finished with Maheesh Theekshana dropping a sitter, Sandeep, who had figures of 3-0-14-0, bowled four wides and a no-ball, costing the over 19.

On 12, Parag knocked down a regulation chance at long-on, giving Stubbs another reprieve. Additionally, he injured them with some crucial runs in the latter stages, which helped RR chase a higher total than they otherwise would have.
A gun throw racing around from wide long-on to limit the penultimate delivery to a single in regulation time—with RR needing three off two—was invaluable, even though Stubbs’ runs were crucial.
The potential cost of that decline
Before that thrilling conclusion, it could have easily gone Stubbs’ way. On 20, Stubbs denied Axar a wicket by palming the ball over the long-on boundary, giving Nitish Rana a reprieve.
when dismissing Jaiswal just five balls earlier when Kuldeep Yadav lulled him in flight and had him drag one to long-on, Rana’s wicket would have been the ideal double-strike for DC.
From a little hazardous 73 off 36, with the ball gripping, Rana stepped up to make 31 more off 12 deliveries to relieve pressure on RR heading into the final three overs. With RR needing 28 off 14, Starc had to dismiss Rana with a gun-inswinging yorker in his third over. Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer then required nine runs from the last over, but they were unable to hit a single boundary as Starc hit his yorkers with ease.
Samson’s injury and Starc’s shaky start
Jaiswal smashed Starc for a sequence of 4, 6, 4 in his opening over, giving him a terrible start before the end. Starc’s full-length deliveries were eaten up by Jaiswal, who cleared the front leg and pushed them violently over the infield in the direction of the short leg-side barrier. Jaiswal stepped inside the line and pulled him imperiously over deep backward square after he bowled short and into the body.
Sanju Samson appeared to be impacted by Jaiswal’s early encouragement as well. He was able to reach his striking range until a suspected side problem forced him to retire injured after reaching RR 61 without loss in 5.3 overs. He was chosen for a four and a six on the two balls that before his retirement out. Rahul and Porel spearhead DC’s battle.
Karun Nair and Jake Fraser-McGurk left DC early. After being roughed up by two Jofra Archer short balls, Nair, who had just scored a high IPL score in his comeback game, was run out for a three-ball duck. Fraser-McGurk holed out to mid-off. Prior to that, Abishek Porel started off with picking 23 off Tushar Deshpande’s second over.
Rahul was initially hesitant because it was difficult to make strokes on the slow surface. He was on 17 off 18 at one point, but he was unable to maintain his momentum and fell for a 32-ball 38 after he pulled Archer to deep midwicket.
After his turbocharge, Porel also had trouble bringing out the big hits and ultimately fell for 49. Luckily for DC, Stubbs maintained the momentum that Axar had created, giving them a total to bowl at, which they ultimately defended thanks to Starc’s skill.
