A recent forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that Puducherry and Tamil Nadu would need to prepare for additional rainfall. For the past two days, Chennai and the neighboring areas have experienced intense rains, which has severely disrupted daily life and caused significant annoyance to the general people.
In its most recent meteorological advisory, the weather service said on Thursday that from Thursday through Sunday, there would likely be light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in one or two locations over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal area. According to the weather agency, there is a chance of isolated heavy rainfall on Friday in the districts of Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Erode.
On Thursday, there was severe to extremely heavy rain in many parts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur districts, which caused waterlogging and stagnation. Due to the moderate likelihood of rain in Chennai and the surrounding districts, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has reduced the red alert to an orange alert. However, the weather service has issued a warning of strong winds in Tamil Nadu’s north.
Heavy rainfall is predicted to occur in isolated locations over the Ghat areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts on Sunday, according to the IMD.
