Up until 6 p.m. on Monday, October 7, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in seven states.
MetMalaysia said in a statement that a lot of Sabah, including places like Tambunan, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, Tawau, Sandakan, Telupid, and Beluran, would be affected by unfavorable weather conditions.
Sarawak is also likely to experience similar conditions, especially in the areas of Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, and Bintulu.
Peninsular Malaysia’s Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, and Kampar), and Kelantan (Jeli) states are predicted to see thunderstorms or heavy rain this afternoon.
Thunderstorms are predicted to impact Johor as well, with reports of them in Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Baru. In Terengganu, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, and Dungun are expected to suffer similar weather.
The warning was issued, according to MetMalaysia, because of thunderstorm activity. Rainfall is predicted to be heavier than 20 mm per hour and to linger for more than an hour. Bernama
