In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its election manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on Friday.
Other party officials and Jammu & Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina attended the function as well.
“Since Independence, the issue of Jammu and Kashmir has remained important for our party, and we’ve always tried to keep this region with India,” Amit Shah said during the manifesto release.
“From Pandit Prem Nath Dogra’s struggle to Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s sacrifice, this struggle was taken forward first by Jana Sangh and then by the BJP because we believe that Jammu and Kashmir has always been a part of India and will remain so,” he added.
The Union Home Minister also touched on the region’s long-standing problems with terrorism and separatism, stating that up until 2014, a number of state and non-state actors had destabilized Jammu and Kashmir.
In order to address the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, all other governments engaged in appeasement politics. Nevertheless, the years between 2014 and 2024 will be immortalized in historical accounts of India and Jammu and Kashmir,” Shah continued.
