The pavement suddenly caved in as the Indian tourist was walking on it in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Last Friday, a 48-year-old Indian visitor to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, fell into a sinkhole at Jalan Masjid India. The woman was reportedly walking on a pavement when it abruptly collapsed 26 feet, sending her to the ground. Following the incident, a search and rescue mission was launched.
Rescuers from Kuala Lumpur are going to use high-pressure water jets to cut through the rubble along two manholes in an attempt to locate the missing tourist. According to Channel News Asia, the process will be conducted between the manhole at the scene of the incident and a different location 69 meters away.
In addition, the news source reported that Kuala Lumpur City Hall had given an update on the search and rescue efforts, noting that efforts to flush a different manhole further away—where slow-moving water was observed from Sunday night to Monday morning—had failed. Rescuers are still looking for the Pantai Dalam treatment plant, which is where the sewer ends, according to Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The search will continue until the missing woman is located, according to the authorities. (Also Read: Sinkhole forms at swimming pool’s bottom, drawing man into it; house owners detained)
