As part of a fresh investigation, Romanian authorities searched the home of controversial influencer Andrew Tate on Wednesday. Tate is currently on trial in Romania for charges of rape and human trafficking.
One of the most well-known influencers in the world, known for his misogynistic and occasionally violent sayings, Andrew Tate, along with his brother Tristan, have been accused of forming an organized criminal network in Romania and Britain at the beginning of 2021. The accusations have been refuted by them.
The prosecution claims that Tate, 37, formed a criminal organization and sexually abused multiple victims along with his 36-year-old brother and two women. The date of the trial is still pending.
Prosecutors said in a statement that they “conducted a raid this morning, on August 21, 2024, at the residence of the Tate brothers as part of a search related to a new investigation” on Wednesday.
Four search warrants were executed in relation to “the crimes of forming an organized criminal group, trafficking in minors,” “sexual relations with a minor,” and “money laundering,” according to the Office for Organized Crime (DIICOT).
It was unclear from both statements whether the brothers were the focus of the new accusations.
They were taken into custody in Bucharest in 2022 and held there for three months before being released under court supervision while they awaited trial.
In addition, the brothers are accused of tax evasion and are facing accusations of assault and rape in separate cases in Britain.
Tate made an appearance on the British reality television program “Big Brother” in 2016, but he was taken off after it was revealed that he had attacked a woman in a video.
He then started using social media sites to spread his polarizing opinions.
His videos, which combine misogynistic and occasionally violent maxims with success advice, have elevated him to the status of one of the most well-known influencers on the planet.
