The Supreme Court granted bail to Manish Sisodia yesterday in cases pertaining to suspected corruption involving the Delhi liquor policy.
Manish Sisodia, the AAP leader, posted a photo of himself and his wife labelling it the “first tea on the morning of independence” after being released from prison after serving 17 months. The Supreme Court granted bail to Mr. Sisodia yesterday in cases pertaining to suspected corruption involving the Delhi liquor policy.
“First tea on the morning of independence..after 17 months!” Mr. Sisodia wrote, sharing the photo on X, the former Twitter platform. The liberty granted to all Indians by the Constitution as a means of ensuring our right to life.”
Party leaders stated that the “mission” to discredit AAP has been shocked by his release.
On February 26, 2023, the CBI detained Mr. Sisodia; less than two weeks later, the Enforcement Directorate also took him into custody. After an irate Supreme Court ruled that he could not remain in jail indefinitely while the prosecution works toward an uncertain trial date, he was now granted bail in both cases.
“The freedom that God has given us to breathe in the open air with everyone,” he said.
The release of the former deputy chief minister of Delhi has given the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) a boost ahead of the early-2019 assembly elections in Delhi and Haryana, which are slated to take place in a few months.
