Parts of Himachal Pradesh have been battered by heavy rains since late Wednesday. Five persons lost their lives and about fifty were reported missing in several cloudburst incidents.
About fifty people were reported missing following cloudbursts in the districts of Mandi, Shimla, and Kullu on Thursday; two bodies have since been found. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, and more rain is predicted for Friday.

- Six state districts are under a flash flood warning through Friday. The districts at risk are Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, and Sirmaur, according to the IMD statement.
- Himachal Pradesh’s additional chief secretary, Onkar Chand Sharma, stated that a warning for heavy rain has been issued through August 2 and that additional alerts will be sent out in accordance with IMD data.
- The chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated that the Union home minister has promised to assist in every way possible and that two more NDRF teams are being dispatched. Moreover, BJP leader Nadda made two calls. He continued by saying that he had conversations with LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge.
- According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked senior officials to make sure that those impacted by the heavy rains and cloudburst in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, receive all the help they need.
- To facilitate rescue efforts, the Indian Army has mobilized its resources. At the cloudburst site in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, three columns totaling 125 personnel, an engineer task force, and a medical team with 20 personnel have been deployed.

Since late Wednesday night, the state has been battered by heavy rains.
With 212 mm of rain, Palampur had the most, followed by Chauri (203 mm), Dharamshala (183.2 mm), Jogindernagar (161 mm), and Kangra (150 mm). In addition, 64.6 mm of rain fell on Shimla and 61 mm on Sainj.
