The Summer Olympics of 2024 are in progress in Paris, France.
On the first day of the Games, Australians will compete in a variety of sports, such as road cycling, canoe slalom, hockey, diving, swimming, and basketball.
Many of those activities will begin on Saturday night in Australia due to the time difference.
On Saturday morning, the opening ceremony will take place quite early.

When is the opening ceremony?
Early Saturday morning.
It is set to begin in Paris on Friday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. Australian time, but it really begins on Saturday, July 27.
Here’s the specific time it will start for each region:
- 1:30am AWST: Western Australia
- 3am ACST: Northern Territory and South Australia
- 3:30am AEST: Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria
